Default Sick of this rain.

Hi all, getting bored with all this rain and no riding so I had an idea. Firstly, here's the only way in and out of my place.

Here's the creek next to town.

Heaps of road closures in our region, so riding into an unexpected water crossing wasn't on my list so I got stuck into the bike.

It started off with this. 6" off the muffler.

I gutted it and left the perforated baffle at the forward end. Cut the end cap down. Made a hole in the baffle to fit some 1.5" stainless steel tube. Drilled a heap of 1/8" holes, flared the end to hold a plate to centre the tube then wrapped it in fibreglass cloth. It's more of an experiment and I'll make a proper plate welded to the inner tube instead of brackets riveted in place. I'll get some perforated tube from an exhaust shop as well. So far it sounds pretty good and isn't too loud.

If that is a Queensland number plate? According to the Weather Bureau, maybe be an idea to put a snorkel on the thing or load it in a boat. So far what's hit, a cyclone & stalled monsoonal low. Been raining here to (on & off), but not as bad.

A cyclone up north causing heavy rainfall down here. And to think that my first choice of bike to commute on was a DR650SE. Would have been better for these conditions. Loving the F3 though.

Hey Pacemaker, I took these today when I went for a quick spin on the bike. If you're familiar with the area at all, it's on the Warrego hwy near the sky diving place.

This is way lower than last night when the hwy was closed.

A view back toward the bridge that was under last night which is what caused the road closure.

Crazy, man. That's a lot of water!

The DR650 would certainly have been a better choice in that situation, but the CBR has the fun factor/speed/comfort for the other 25wks of the year.
(I have a klr650)
They're definitely fun to beat on and take down trails and such, tho. And my klr gets about 50mpg even with me wringing it's neck 100% of the time. lol..

I'll probably still get a DR650 or similar so I can go bush. I want to set one up for hunting. My CR250 aint exactly the type of bike you'd use for that.
