Shop Owner Dead
Darrell Hagelberg, 44, of Martinez, was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Alhambra Valley Road around 6 p.m. when he approached a vehicle in front of him that had slowed down to make a left turn onto Pereira Road, the CHP reported.
Hagelberg was apparently not able to brake in time and collided with the vehicle ahead, causing Hagelberg to be thrown from his motorcycle, according to the CHP.
Officials pronounced Hagelberg dead at the scene.
According to the CHP, witnesses said Hagelberg was traveling at approximately 80 mph. The posted speed limit in that area is 30 mph.
Officials do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
This happened on Thursday. I was at his shop that day talking about my exhaust. He died 1 1/2 hours later.
Now I know why he didn't call me back on Friday for my quote. Be safe everyone.
