I don't think that the time changes are stupid. Pretty much because it helps save the environment and resources. It is pretty significantly too. In the old days, it was to conserve on the amount of candles being used. Now it applies to the amount of fossil fuels we burn. Now if everything was solar...well, then it would be a waste.

How does me changing my clock affect the world? If its 7pm, then its 7pm no matter where the sun is.

There is no proof of that per Gov research (Nixon era) it has proven that Fuel consuption (auto)has went up during DST.

3rd shift has to work 9 hours. LOL i came in and everyone was like dont forget to set your clocks back an hour tonight, i was like dang (thought it went back at midnight) gotta work 9 hours tonight but they were like no it goes back at 2am. i was like SWEET!
