Default Rode for the first time since my kid was born....

On Dec 26th, I spent a few hours fixing a bad sparkplug wire that had been causing a lingering miss on cyl #4.

Dec 27'th my son showed up.

Bike has sat under a cover since then.

not that I haven't wanted to ride, I just simply haven't had time.

today he was sleeping during the afternoon for a change, and me and the wife were enjoying a nice 68-degree day (wth? It's winter?) on the front steps.

I heard a harley guy winding his bike out on the 4 lane at the end of the subdivision, and mentioned that I need to go ride sometime just to keep the carbs in good shape.

She looked at me and said, "no time better than right now. Kiss him before you go, gear up, and be careful."

I did so - and took it easy, and man, it was a little different, I won't lie.

Different how? Feel yourself being more timid and careful?

Not so much like that, I feel that if something affects a rider so much that in normal everyday riding that they've drastically changed their riding habits, like don't feel like they can maneuver the bike anymore, then that's a good sign that it's time to hang the helmet up. I just haven't had the urge to really rip on the bike for no good reason. The front fork that still needs seals and a refill on oil isn't helping either. Entirely possible that I haven't ridden much at all the last 2-3 months just has me a little rusty.

That may be all I'm feeling.

Rode to work today - first day back @ work since he was born. Everything is starting to normalize, it was nice to get back into a routine that I'm familiar with.

you are realizing that you have a new purpose in life, and that you have a reason to live that is not for you now. this is a normal feeling. junky jr needs you to come home in one piece. when riding, you will probably not take those semi risky chances, the ones that you didnt even need to think about before. welcome to fatherhood....and congrats.
