Riding with Children
I don't plan on taking any risks with my kid on board.
What kind of helmet does your kids use when you're out? Fullface? If so, what brand/make?
The one I have for my kid is a full face helmet, both hers and mine match. Only difference is mine isn't plastered with Hello Kitty/Heart stickers. (Ok, it has ONE, only because she asked nicely.)

i agree with hawk, my dad used to let me ride with him when i was in single digits, but he bought me a helmet, and made sure i was always holding on tight before he would give it some power. i think as long as they are well informed and protected, you should be fine. but yeah keep it off the interstate!
a great rule i use with my daughter is to make a triangle using both hand and resting them on the center of the tank keeps them at center of bike and gives them a better feel for the leans works great and like i said its like shes not even there, she also must wear full face helmet, long pants 3/4 shoes jacket and gloves even if im not,by the way thats the rules to any passenger because we all know how fast something can go wrong and when they get on the back of our bike we have to put there saftey above all else at least i do!

I wear a full face helmet and full leathers when I ride and wouldn't expect anyone else to wear less than me . However it is almost impossible to get leathers for kids so they wear the best strongest clothes I can find . They also wear a full face helmet . It's a Lazer LZ6 which is a five star rated helmet here in the UK.
BTW it is no more dangerous for you on a bike than a scooter.
My thoughts exactly.
Thanks for the input everyone, appreciate both the pro and con comments.

I remember when I was younger (7-8) I was visiting my relatives in China. My uncle let me ride on the tank of his motorcycle whenever we'd go places. I gotta say It was one of the happiest times of my life.
More on topic though, I would never let a kid ride on my bike. I wouldn't want to have that type of responsibility and it's true that some kids out there just aren't calm/predictable enough.

I ride my son in front of me and have since he was 18months old(he's 3 now). However the "ride" is under 15mph in my driveway(150ft long) and we just do laps. Occasionally we've gone around the block doing a little over 7mph on the sidewalks. I live right on a highway so the sidewalks are always deserted. And I've had cops come over and laugh out loud when the see him on front making bike noises and asking to "gogogogogogogo".
It funny because almost every day he asks to rid the motosykal and make it go vroom vroom or gogogogogo.
Neither one of use wears gear when I do this. My helmet, jacket, pants and gloves sit in the closet for these little drives. However if I even go over 20mph I will be fully geared up, and when he is big enough for any gear to fit him he will also be fully outfitted. I figure at the slow speed I am doing if it goes down I'm just going to grab him and step off the bike.
We also drive the car around the driveway and the race car I'm building he has done most of the interior stripping work, its his "wacekar" and he drives it every day as well. usually consist of him opening the door and standing where the seat used to be acting like he is driving the car and rowing through the gears.
He already has a cr50, a cr125, and a xr250 bikes waiting for him when he is big enough and a kids race kart with a 15cc weedwacker motor.
