Default replacing stock airfilter

I own a 2004 cbr 600 RR and still running the original oem air filter @ 11,000 miles. I ride in pretty normal conditions but would like to know when ill need to replace it possibly with a K&N? I tried getting to the airbox and found that it was a pain in the *** to get to. Anyone have any thoughts or a websight that will show you an easy way to do it yourself??

Default RE: replacing stock airfilter

I think the strategy for getting to the air filter on the 600RR is the same as the 1000RR. Just remove the plastic tank shell and then a couple screws in the airbox. You may have to prop up the tank -- I forget. Still, not really difficult to do. When you put the tank shell back on, squirt a little soapy water around the filler cap hole. It'll make getting the seal on a lot easier.

Maintenance schedules usually call for replacement at 12K miles.
