Default K&N Airfilter

What's your opinion on K&N Airfilters?

Yesterday I mounted a K&N Airfilter and then took the bike for a little ride. There was a positive difference in throttleresponse and it now idles +100 rpm (1100) and more even at that. It's not as jumpy/jerky in slow turns and the engine sounds more like an airplane engine.

In my previous bike, an 87, I didn't notice this effect when I switched to K&N, but perhaps I just wasn't paying attention as I should.

Hi Cosmo !!
Yes, same as your bike - better throttle response, faster idle.
Better fuel consumption if you keep it clean, too - I got 18.5 K's to a litre when I had new plugs, oil and the K & N fitted. Would get better if I balanced the carbs, or rode it slower.....he he

I fitted one to my CBR1000FX 5 weeks ago. Can't say I noticed any difference, but how do you improve on perfection

Same here, I only bought one as they are cheaper than the stock Honda one's.. Saw no difference. Afterall its a airfilter, not a turbo charger. Some of the claims these companies make about performance gains are ridiculous..

Be doubtful, Honda wouldn't put something on their bike to gimp its power, must serve some purpose other than stopping bugs and small children getting sucked into the engine..

I was told I would have to re-jet the carbs on my 87 if I bought K&N, anyone else heard this?
