People just dont realize how powerful the 360 is. You got all that goodyness crammed in a tiny box. Of course its gonna get hot. My pc gets hot and its in a nice open case.
Once I get one, I'm gonna water cool it.

Xbox 360 cooling arrives to combat Ring of Death
Keeping Xenos in check
By Wily Ferret: Thursday 14 June 2007, 11:06 [/align] MICROSOFT IS equipping Xbox 360s with additional cooling to battle the legendary Ring of Death problems. Gamers are reporting that their repaired Xboxes, back from the Vole, have a massive new heatsink on the ATI-powered Xenos graphics chip in a bid to prevent problems with overheating and stability. The heatsink looks like this and features an additional heatpipe and fin section to increase the cooling surface area. However, there are no extra fans. There is also no word on epoxy - glue is used on the high-end Xbox 360 Elite units to prevent chips from coming away from the PCB should the plastic warp in the heat. We suspect that those lucky enough to get their Xbox back in a working condition aren't keen to start pulling it apart again. We suspect that thermals will continue to be an issue with the 360 until Microsoft can start cranking out 65nm components that will require far less power and generate less heat. At that point, the Ring of Death should be history. Until then, expect it to keep firefighting, in some cases, quite literally. µ

so the towel trick only worked for not even a day for me...ive done it twice already with similar results...im sending it in...goodbye 360 for 3-4 weeks
Hey, you may get the upgraded unit. Besides, when have you ever heard of one of the game companies actually extending the warranty like MS has done? i'll take a three year warranty on the red rings any day. Hopefully in two years my box goes and they replace it with a new one.
