Look on the bright side man... by the time you're done with it you're going to know that bike intimately and be more comfortable in knowing that you've got it in good condition. Good luck dude, sounds like quite the project ahead for you!

Man I hope you trailered it home and didnt have to ride the bike in that condition. Sounds like youve got quite the project on your hands. I had a simmilar situation but with my plastics being pretty much destroyed in some areas. I re-built alot of it and I can deffinetly say I take alot of pride knowing that I fixed it up. Id like to see how your projects going to turn out

It's just taking multiple applications. There's about 2-3 coats of rattlecan on top of primer on top of the OEM clearcloat + paint + primer

Resurrecting this cause yet another thing.

Went to go put the fairings back on the bike after painting (yeah, she's mostly done cept for a repaint of the tank). I had bought a right engine cowl off ebay cause they had drilled a hole in it and the right upper to make it 'fit'. So I can't get the cover on right. The radiator hose is blocking the new cowl. Why?

The bastiches mounted the radiator wrong. It's lower and back from the correct position (they skipped a hole on the radiator mount) which has the radiator hose out of position. Too dark to try and remount the radiator now. PLUS I have to go find a replacement bolt

I guess you know this about fixing scratches and marks made during stripping - but I did some fairing repair many years ago.. and deep scratches developed from stripping, sanding, etc... I got a sandable primer and built up some nice layers using those spray cans, with bondo-type filler first where needed for deepest gouges... progressively sanding with wet paper 400, 600, 800, I was able to get a smooth enough finish that the paint guys told me they had not seen such a nice prep job before on plastics. Takes patience but can be done ;-)

It's a great deal of work, this I know having completely rebuilt a bike, rebuilt fairings etc etc etc etc.
Once it's done, the bike will become a part of you, almost like a book is written by an author. Don't become discouraged - all good things take time, and care.
It'll be great to see some before and after pics - keep a record of all you do - you'll enjoy looking back on it in future years.............

is your bike therapedic or causing you to melt down..... if its not a labor of love, the results will be less than satisfying. deep breath and finish it up bro, and $500 F3 is bound to have a few problems.dont sweat the petty stuff, pet the sweaty stuff.....

It's therapy... tho my gf hates the time its stealing. Just minor annoyances when I come across something that was hidden. I'd have grabbed the bike anyways for the price.

But it would have helped to know bout this stuff earlier. I'm tired of walking over to Pepboys every other day to fix the new discovery. Be nice to have bought everything in one bulk trip
