Depends on the insurance company you choose.
Example: State Farm charges me $30 a month for a 600cc F4i which has 95HP, but they wanted $45 a month for a Kawasaki 650R which has only 71HP "because it is a BIGGER engine!!"

But State Farm doesnt charge you more if you have had not at fault accidents, Progressive does. At least thats how the quotes I got compared.

That's for liability. If you are getting a loan to buy the 04 R1 they will require you to have full insurance on the bike.

You guys may or may not be forgetting this but at the ripe age of 21 unless you have a cosigner im not to sure a bank will give u the loan for a r1... they would be more likely to give you a personal loan... if you go that route your interest rate may be higher but you can get away with not carrying full coverage insurance...

I pay $250 a year with NJ Rider for mine, that's cheap considering that NJ has the highest insurance in the nation.

Then if you total your bike, you will still be paying payments on a bike you cant even ride. I have full coverage on my bike and its not worth as much as that r1. I cant afford to just **** away 4 grand. Id rather pay a bit more and be covered.

$113 a month for full coverage through progressive on my 929 . i have 1 speeding ticket. if my bike gets stolen or wrecked i dont have to worry about it... that kind of piece of mind is worth it imo

I saw an insurance sheet from State Farm I think for the current year and there were plenty of liter bikes with lower insurance rates than 600Rs. I think it might have to do with the fact that more people buy 600s so it's a matter of percentages and numbers. I remember on a scale from A to F (A being highest) the R6 had like an A rating and the R1 had a B rating.
