Yes you are right as well, but not everyone can afford a new tire everytime they get a nail in one.

my life is worth more than a tire
I agree with Stoney Curtis...

A plug might be just finefor this occasion, but I would not have the mental confidence in the tire, and that would compromise my ability to ride (no matter how conservative I may be).

IF you do it(I wouldn't) make sure you use an Internal plug... It gets put on from the inside

^This is the only way to go^ Do it from the inside. I've used the plugs and never had a problem.
thats exactly what i was talking about, though when I worked at my shop the patch-plugs with that small of a patch always leaked, try to go with a little bigger size patch if you can

As always, opinions are chosen by each person, regardless of information supporting it... or not. The post I did was a crapload to read... but there's a ton more where that came from. CAN you take a tire to 170mph after plugging or patch/plug or patching it? Maybe. Will it corner well and hold up to a few track days? Maybe.

It might just be me... but "Maybe's" scare me on a motorcycle. Calculated risk is the name of the came. That being said... my CBR gets new tires, my Yamaha got a plug. I'll slide the back end of the yamaha and it's cheaper, less sticky tires around town and on a comute to and from work (60-70mph)... the CBR and it's "spirited" riding, and it's town rides and commutes, gets the best. One's just under 2 grand... the other nearly 10 grand. Ones a percise razor of an instrument, the other a whole lot of cheap fun.

Best thing anybody can ever do is inform themselves and make their own choice. Whether it's a smart one or not will be found out soon enough.

If the hole isat the side of the tire, don't do it. I had seen my buddy done it a year ago and the tire still can perform to the max.
