Default Please help me decide!!!

Ok so I have two choices, one being a 2007 kawasaki 650r with 16000 miles that went down at a slow speed with frame sliders for $1500 and a ipad 2. The other option is a 1994 cbr 600 with a 2007 f4i fairing kit on it with 7000 miles for $2000. This would be my first bike and im 6'2 175 lbs. here's the bikes

You ask this on the CBR Forum??

The CBR because it needs no work done to it, and less km and by golly it looks good in black.

Cheers, SB

Probably the cbr because it looks like it was someone’spride and joy, whereas the 650r looks like it's had a rough 16,000 miles and makes you wonder about how well it was maintained.

If I HAD to choose one of these 2 it would be the CBR hands down. Looks way cleaner than the Kawi. However if it was me I would go with neither. While the CBR doesn't look all that bad the fairings are not made for that bike which means there are gaps where there shouldn't be and the overall fit would not be perfect. You could have zipties holding the fairing in place. I'm a perfectionist and the would really annoy me. However it is not my money and not my bike and if you like it then please go out and get it, just ride safe.

You need to check over any used bike very carefully, but assuming they're both in OK condition, there might be a couple reasons to prefer the Kawi. And I say this as a very satisfied CBR owner.

1) It has a more upright seating position, with handlebars instead of clip-ons, and may be more comfortable for a guy your size. But bike fit is always subjective, so you really need to sit on, and preferably ride, both bikes.

2) The Kawi is a twin, and has a more linear power delivery than an I4. This makes it easier for a beginner to develop throttle control without getting in trouble. With an I4, you'll have very little power at low engine speed, but when the RPMs get up into the power band, the bike will want to jump ahead. An I4 600 supersport, even an older one, isn't an ideal starter bike.

3) I'd be wary about a 19-year-old bike with only 7,000 miles on it. Either that odometer reading is fake, or the bike might have sat neglected for many years. If the guy never rode the bike, how likely is it that he maintained it? The fact that it has replacement fairings is a good indication that the originals were trashed in a crash.

Ok I turned down both of these because I found an amazing deal on a 2004 cbr600rr with 7k miles on it. He wants $3000 but I talked him down to $2500 and he's delivering it.

Did you have it inspected? Ride it? I dunno bout you guys but a 2004 with 7k and for only $2500 seems too good to be true. I'm not trying to **** on your parade, because if all is well, I think you got a gem there.

something was weird with that F2 anyway - I'm not putting my finger on it, cause the wife has kept feeding me wine - but the polished frame is the issue. F2's have steel frames - so did they polish a steel frame then have it sprayed, or is it chromed?

Moot point if you're getting the erly RR.
