Default Is it in the owners manual?

ive noticed it here and there before, but this last week or so ive noticed it alot. everytime a cobalt ss or an srt-4 pull into a gas station (or any parking area for that matter) they rev the hell outta the motor like an idiot. trying to come off as some type of bad-***. and it usually doesnt work, lol.

just wondering if its a local thing or if they do it everywhere.

Trying to look like a bad *** and failing horribly. It is not a local thing at all. I see it from time to time.

Even more than that i love the guys with the BOV's. They do that to me all the time while im in my camaro. Like hey i have forced induction, i can prolly keep up or beat you. Im sorry to say these guys really make me laugh. I love when they pull up to me, gimme a glance and pop their bov. I always just give them a look, then laugh. As they are wondering what im laughing about i give a lil rev and let them hear my BOV. Its always quite funny to watch them turn tail and run.

Just to note i dont think i have the fastest car here or anywhere else. But my camaro has fairly loud exhaust and a fairly aggressive cam. So when someone pulls up and you can hear it loping, then they find out its boosted on top, most 4 bangers tend to just go away.

I'd like to refer to that as "Gixxer Syndrome". They can't look good doing what the vehicle was made to do, so they're going to compensate by trying to look cool standing still. Really, it has nothing to do with the vehicle and everything to do with the person.

Just be glad that you've been given the warning to give this person a wide berth on the road.
