Default outrageous tickets in VA!!!

Just read the story on the new traffic ticket guidelines for VA, in an effort to raise money for road projects, their jacking up tickets costs for an estimated 65 million a year in revenue. Some of the tickets, like doing 20 over, could run you 3K!!!!!!!!!! Now, I don't advocate speeding, but what if it's 10 over? I mean, I can remember cruising along on the intersate, going with the flow and looking down at the speedo to find myself doind 75 in a 55 before I backed off a bit, but even at 65 or 70, I was getting passed....so....what If joe blow middle class gets pulled over.....3K? Thats beyond ridiculous if you ask me. Reckless endangerment...sure.....DUI....Absolutely, but generating massive revenue off of joe taxpayer is BS if you ask me. Anyone read the story on AOL.com or got any take on it?

I agree, some of the changes are absurd. Especially the fact that out of state drivers are exempt.

Out of state drivers are exempt? That only appeals to me cause I'm out of state, and should I find myself getting pulled over in Va, I'd appreciate that rule...but really it's BS. What are they gonna do, have a sign on the state line that reads "Virginia is for lovers....and revenue"

Yea, exempt.

This is strictly a money thing.

By exempt i mean to the changed stuff that went into effect TODAY. But i'd wager on a law officer to pull over an instate driver over and out of state driver at this point.
