Default Just some pics...

Last weekend I was getting some Diesel from the gas station to warm up the carage. The gas station has a pretty direct view to the local marina, and as I was filling the canisters, the sun decided to grace the morning with a few rays after a long time. I was going to take some project pictures in the carage, so I had my camera with me and thought I`d go and try to take some frames from the marina... So, here`s the best ones. Whaddaya think?

That "ghostly lady on a misty bridge" is a funny one. Stare at it for a while and you`ll notice it`s actually a snowy top of a tree on the other shore of the lake. If that would be a person on the bridge, she would be a little over 3 meters tall!

Happy winter to everyone! And for the record: the temp here has been at -8f (-22c) for the last few days. Fresh...A bit too fresh to my taste...

Now that is just totally unnecessary;

"Yes Mother Nature I know you can make it cold in winter, but there is absolutely no point in making it that feckin cold.

We got the idea about cold at -20 thank you.

No you're just showing off"

Haha, no chance that I would ever put any spiked tyres under my bikes, or even consider taking them out at this weather, There`s no way in hell to get me behind any handlebars when it`s this cold. Have ridden a snowmobile every now and then in the past years, but haven`t found it any particularily pleasant...
The only thing is this is the first winter that I`m having a "real" motorbike in the carage all ready to go when the weather is right and not having to do any engine swaps or other minor maintenance like that before, so I can tell you my right wrist is twitching pretty bad and it`s not medical...

And a piece of info for Kiwi:

This is (at least to my knowledge) one of the only countries in the world where the lowest and highest temperature measured from the same exact spot within one year can have a difference exeeding 70 celsius! (+/-35)

The lowest ever recorded temperature in Finland was clocked in at february 1862, in Sodankylä near the north border. The record was a hell-freezing -51,3 celsius!

Oh, and I checked the time I took the pictures: The picture where the sun is in the middle was taken at 14:13, so that`s about as high as it gets right now!

And one more thing about that bridge-pic: I wanted to test what my camera (Olympus SP-600 UZ) can do. It was taken at full zoom, freehand from approx 500meters away! It is located between the two signs at the boat-picture.

The pictures are beautiful but I have frost bite from just looking at them. I don't know how yall live in such a cold climate. It's 71 right now and I'm almost shivering.

Truth be told, I wonder it myself sometimes... Around 80 f is ideal to me. Over that goes a bit too hot...

Think how stupid it feels to sow the chili-seeds into the pots for the next summer when it`s like that outside...

Then you wouldn't like it here. In the summer it gets well into the 100's for months on end.

Sowing your seeds in pots isn't any more stupid than me growing my tomatoes inside during the summer because it is too dang hot outside.

Over 100...converting...WHAT? Almost 40c?!!!! Dang... No way I`m ever going there.

And yeah, I reckon agriculture is never stupid.

There is an old Chinese saying:

If you want to be happy for a night, get drunk.
If you want to be happy for a year, get married.
If you want to be happy forever, get a garden.
