ORIGINAL: pacemaker

My years ago when I was a 12 year old brat, I was visiting my Aunty & cousins who had just moved back home from America (cousins where born there). Any way, cousin Kenneth, who was about a year older than me, was showing off this big hunting knife (Bowie) & had spent ages sharpening it on knife block, so he reaches over & pulls a handful of my hair out, which pi**ed me off cause it hurt, so he holds up some of my hair between his thumb & forefinger & says something like 'lets see how sharp this thing is' & then lifts the knife right up in the air & swings down so that if the the knife was real sharp it would cut through the hair right? cept he slices the tip of his finger & about 2/3 off the tip of thumb. It was amazing because for about second we both just sat there looking at the bits of finger on the floor, the tip of his fingers, back down on the floor. Then suddenly all this blood just spurts out everywhere, my cousin went white & drops the knife & it falls & lands blade down in his right foot, stands upright for wot seemed for ever, then as it tipped over, cut an even bigger hole as it feel out.

Genius! I laughed. Is that wrong?

once after i got out the shower i was sitting in my room at the computer naked, flipping a throwing in the air and catching it, then the phone rings or something and i miss catching the knife, which stabs me in my bare thigh.

it didn't cut me too bad but could have been much worse.

another time i was working for my friend at a hydraulic shop.

I was pressure testing a two stage 30 foot cylinder out of crane (extends out to almost 90 feet) and was about a foot in diameter, this thing was a monster.

so rather then make a custom hose for the "low pressure side" since the hose and fitting for it are not cheap, i just take a fitting and push a piece of clear venial hose over it (like what you siphon a car with but bigger), and proceed to fill up 5 gallon buckets with hydraulic oil as the pump puts oil in the high pressure side bringing the cylinder in. the oil comes out A LOT faster then i thought it would and i am quickly geting over whelmed and can't switch bucks quik enough and am makeing a mess. so i try putting my thumb over it, bad idea, it sprays me first then it builds pressure in the hose (all happends within second) and blows the hose off the fitting, sending a guizer of oil out of the cylinder, hits the ceiling of the shop and drenches me, my friend, and his camaro that we had been working on.

so us geniuses think, humm, put a hose clamp on it, and we resume running the pump and pulling the cylinder in, the hose again sprays out oil way too fast and slips out of my hands and wips around like a fire hose, again drenching the whole shop in oil.

lesson, "low pressure side" is only low when compared to the "high pressure side" and is definatly not something you can just hold like a garden hose.

The dumbest thing i've done i can think of that involves lack of common sense.

Middle of summer, no central AC, it was hot. I hooked up an AC unit in the middle of the room underneath a coffee table and put a drip pan under it to catch the water. Hours later it dawned on me why the room wasn't cooling off.

I tried to shoot a fish at close to point blank when i was 9 with a remington 20guage shotgun, while he was in a pond. Not smart.

I once resealed an intake on an old cube van with a 460 in it. I had the distributor 1 tooth off and I had the dog house cover off of it. I was ready to start it up and I had my face almost over the carb without an air cleaner on it. Well it turned over a few times and then shot a fireball out of it. It just about burned my eyebrows off.

Once I was on my way to work at 6:30 in the morning and it was extremely foggy out. I took off at a light and there was a douche next to me in a car that gunned it. I don't know what came over me, but I was suddenly traveling at a great speed on my bike. Then I had a terrible thought come over me. I cannot see where I am going and I will bet people cannot see me. I right away slowed down to below the limit. I still can't believe I did that. It was not one of my smarter moments.

A great no common sense moment happened at work today, except a customer did it not me.

I work at The Ups Store, and a young blonde comes in, about to ship a package. She's on the phone with her mom, as her mom gives her the address to where the package is going. The mom rattles off the address and tells the blonde to put "care of yada yada" under the address line (care of would normally who exactly the package is going to, and is written C/O) Well, the blonde doesn't know how to write care of, so she asks her mom. The mom tells her just to put "C/O yada yada" under the address line. So what does the blonde do? She starts slashing all of the "C's" and "O's" in the address. I really had to hold back laugher.

well the other day our fence broke and my dog was getting out so we decided to put him in our storage closet for just the night until tomorrow so we could get fence fixed. well i go lay down and i think to myself and start worrying about carbon monoxide from the pilot light ( when burning natural gas ). so i run out side and look at the water heater...........that is when i get it i have never payed a gas bill and sure enough the water heater was electric. [&o]

hey i care about my dog what can i say.

I was out for dinner last night with a buddy and his G/F. we were at one of those restaurants that have a paper table cloth and crayons so you can draw or play games or whatever while you wait for your food. So i go to start up a game of X's and O's with his G/f and she says to me, wait, what colour of crayon are you using, I need a diff colour so we know who's who..
I looked at her and laughed, then told her she didnt need a diff colour, we could distinguish who's who because one uses an X and the other an O... she felt really dumb...
