Default New tires - Why take it easy?

So I just put on the Dunlop Qualifiers. The sticker on the tire says to take it easy for the first 100 miles. My question is why? I know one of the answers is: cause the shiny side will go down. I'm asking what is happening in the first 100 miles to make the tire set for the abuse later to come? Anybody know?

it's the coating that is on the tires. It's VERY slippery! The 100 miles they figure you'll go through enough turns to wear all of the coating off. Mine was worn off within 30 miles. You can see the shinny wearing off and the dull color showing. When most of the side has been worn to dull and no shinny is left, you're good.

I was told by a dealer that tires come with a silicon coating on the outside (to prevent drying out?) and that the tires need to be warmed up repeatedly to wear it off. I've also been told in the past that they need to be warmed repeatedly to cure correctly, but not sure the truth in that. One thing i do know----you do need to take it easy. Ask my buddy why lol.

tires are made in a big mold, like anything made in a mold a mold release compound is used. a mold release compound is used so the tire will come out of the mold when it is dry. when the tire comes out it has the release compound(the slick stuff) on the outside of the tire so to be safe they say 100 miles till its worn off. hope this answers your question.
