new computer need gamers

upgrade your graphics. Your not going to be playing any new games with that card. No Crysis, COD4, UT4, hell not even Guitar Hero 3.

Ive got a little better specs, and an nvidia 7400 with 294mb video...128 dedicated. It works allright, i can play bf2142,bf2, crysis, cod4, with the lower resolution and medium graphics, just no antiailasing or antisyntrophic filtering....it works pretty good for a 15.4" laptop...i just wish i could throw a 7900gtx in this beast..lol

the x3100 isnt really made for gaming, so it might work. I had a intel GMA900 in my old laptop, i couldnt play bf2 on it...couldnt support the shaders. you might be able to handle battlefield 2142 or 2, mostlikely not, but maybe cod4....if you can get to gameplay without a crash to desktop your good to go. Just adjust your graphics to minimal and increase from there. set antialiasing to none, and other graphics intensive settings to as low as possible.
you should be able to play CNC3....its not too graphics intensive.
If worse comes to worse, you can at least play halo, battlefield 1942, both awesome games, just not the newest.
..and please tell me its not a dell...[X(]
good luck man...

unfortunatly its not that easy...unless your pc was custom built by a local shop, or similar, where they actualy put the pc togeather right there..you cannot upgrade the video card...

Settle down class. Let me teach ya'll for a second.
There are companies that sell "barebone" laptops so you can choose the cpu, gpu, and ram you want. Not many out there and the parts, but they are there.
To me gaming on a laptop just doesnt do it for me. You still need it to be on a table so you can use a mouse and forget about running it off the battery.
First off. Come on guys. Crysis!!!!! Did ya not even read his specs.
Sorry to say you got a ****ty laptop for games. Sorry but its fact. I'm betting the graphics use "shared" ram. Meaning it has its own ram, but it'll use the systems ram too. Sloooooooowwwwwwwwwsssssss the laptop down.
Just download demos of games. Try different graphic settings and see were you stand. Dont go out and buy a game and go ape**** when it doesnt run properly.

Hey everyone. I am graduating this year from college. My first laptop I bought freshman year. Well a couple days ago it decides to take a crap (HDD). Well I broke down and finally bought a laptop with some performance.
T7300 intel core 2 duo 2.0 ghz 4mb l2 cache
120 gig internal, 500 gig external. both sata. external is firewired.
2 gig ram
intel x3100 accelerated. i could not justify the price for the dedicated card laptop i wanted.
intel 965 chipset so i can run 384 megs of ram for video.
impressive system compared to my last one. I have never played any type of video games but I did build a system for my brother (a gamer) that can put mine to shame. Its easier to build a high performance box than a laptop.
my question: what games can be played on my laptop that are good for a beginner such as myself. they have to be easy with a light learning curve. my bro said something about command and conquer? i looked it up and there are like 50 versions. anyone have any idea what version he would have been talking about?

waoh waoh waoh...sorry didnt mean any disrespect. My friend bought a laptop that our local store custom builds in shop. They are upgradeable in the future...this pc is a custom chassis and is built up off the motherboard by the store.
i wasnt saying it wouldnt be able to be upgraded...all i know is most laptops built by companies like dell, hp, gateway etc. cannot be upgraded graphics wise. They are not built for being upgraded, while my friends laptop was specifically designed to be able to be upgraded.
Im not having any disrespect towards you nauree. I am agreeing with you that they normally cant be custom built. but there are the small companies that do.
Wanna shake hands n get the hostility down??lol
as for you rangerscott...its war...see ya in 2142
