Or you could track it and push you skill limits as close to the bike limits as you can.

True, hadn't considered the 250 on the track.

I think Honda is underestimating the 250cc market here. I think a lot of people prolly have similar thoughts.

I think the reason is the aforementioned chance of profit per bike and the results of a watered down market. They might be able to sell alot of bikes but is it worth it in the end?

Building brand loyalty is worth a lot. Sometimes it's not about how much money you make today but how much you make tomorrow. Dell's profit per unit was miniscule at the beginning.

Another thing I believe about new riders going bigger than they should was look at the options available to them. Until recently, the Ninja was a capable but fugly bike while 600cc+ were getting slimmer and sexier. Riding an "underpowered" AND fugly bike was just too many shots to the ego at once. But a 250cc CBR that looks like a CBR might be better received among the newer riders. And riders with smaller frames.

Couldnt agree more if the ninja weren't so ugly when i was looking i may have considered a new one then upgraded within the ninja family. if honda can get new riders in with a nice looking 250 then they could get a rider for life

You do bring up a very good point. I know a few people who have started on other (bigger) bikes because the ninja is (was) so fugly and have stuck with the brand. Myself included

I loved watching the 250 moto gp races before they moved up to the 600's.

Race Tech actually makes a full track package for the Ninja 250's.

When I read the title to this post I had to check out Honda's homepage. If they bring them here I will buy one as a commuter bike. Count one sold. I have been waiting for them to bring them here since the late eighties...not the usual watered down models but the same little jewels they have in the home market.

I want them to bring back the cbr400rr and bring it state side. It'd make a fun commuter/rain bike.

I'll buy it just for shyts and giggles. I don't care about price.
