I have a question for all of you on here. I am really wanting to make a full out drag bike. I will be doing all of the wrench work myself and be sparing no expense. I am wanting it to be a CBR but it doesn't absolutely have to be. I am thinking maybe a CBR1100XX. Any suggestions on a certain bike or any reason why I shouldn't go with a CBR? Thanks!

There is no reason why not to use a cbr. Most people these days are using bussa's and zx-14's. Check out Hyperbike Performance Centers (www.hyperbikecenters.com). The owner Drags a zx-14 he also runs www.zx14.net. There's alot of stuff on there but mostly ZX-14.

 

Then my next question is this....would it be more benefitial to go with a cbr1000rr or a cbr1100xx? Any pros and cons would be appretiated.

 

dude I like honda and all but go with a busa or ZX-14 for a drag bike... the XX has nothing on either one...... they are the best bang for the buck... not to mention try and find a XX thats not way over priced.... you can get a ZX-14 OTD for around 11,200 if you know how to haggle.... cheaper if you really look.

 

Yea but if you are a slick tech you should build a super fast cbr1000rr screw the 1100......I dont even know if this is possible but i know if you have a big budget or whatever you could make one mean *** bike not to mention youd be rep'n HONDA and that would be admirable.....Remeber just cause nobody is doing it doesnt mean it cant be done.....i saw a turbo kit for the 1000rr if you know what your doing you could build a bad assengine bored and stroked to about the size of your competitors (kawi & suzuki) run lots of boost and nitrous. All you will need is a Very very good mechanic/technician and a very very capable rider. i say screw the 1100 cause they are not an RR. you can extend out a 1krr just like all the others......just an idea lol

 

Well, I am not wanting to spend a whole lot on the bike. I know I will be putting a lot into it with mods so I don't want to spend 10k on purchasingabike that I am going to tear apart anyway. I have looked at the 954 and 929 as well and I like look of them but I am not sure on the peformance. Any thoughts on those 2 bikes??? Thanks!

 

954 pretty fast. busa and zx14.......way faster.

 

I am deffinately wanting to stick with a honda. I am not a fan whatsoever of either the hayabusa or the zx-14. I know they are the monsters of the track but I am willing to sacrafice a little speed for keeping with honda. Are there any disadvantages to the 954? I know nothing about them. Are they inline or v-twin? Thanks!

 

I just read an article on Kent Stotz. He rides a cbr1100xx and seems to be doing pretty good. I guess I am looking for a bike this has decent power to begin with but not one where I have to pay huge bucks just to begin with. I have seen a few black birds out there for around 5k and that is what I am looking to spend. Any advice on how I should go about this project???
