sorry guys i totally misread the 2011 as 2001. the 2011 is common rail and kiwi JK is correct, the common rails that have came in have been iffy, usually if they havn't been driven we can clear everything out and save them from having severe damage, if it was driven until it died, you will most likely be looking at pump and system damage.

keep us posted on what the dealer says.

Same with ours (I'm a Ford diesel tech).... we've had a few put gasoline in the newer 6.4's which use a high pressure common rail, and if you run it with gasoline it pretty much destroys everything in the fuel system. The diesel pump lubricates the high pressure pump so that seizes up, sends metal shavings through all 8 fuel lines and takes out all 8 injectors. Looking at many thousands of dollars for that repair on our trucks, lol. The older 6.0's and 7.3's though with the high pressure oil system, you could just drain/flush the fuel system real good and usually be OK

Hopefully there wasn't too much damage done.... keep us updated on what happens!
