The most random thread ever...
Not trying to make this my personal soapbox, but I Got to vent a little bit a thread earlier today hit home seems that Fallujah is not something that's going to go away very easily for a lot of people. I posted some information a little ways back under sight and sound on the engagements there, one personal thing sticks out. Abouta Iraqi man chained to a wall in a building in northeastern Fallujah. The man, who was shackled at the wrists and ankles, bruised and starving, said he was a taxi driver who had been abducted 10 days prior and that his captors had beat him with cables. Accused him of being pro-American and the ironic thing was, Up until that point, he had not been if it hadn't been for two downed super cobras. He may never have been found. Sometimes allies are made one at a time here is a link to a declassified report on the the siege of Fallujah. You really have to read between the lines starting on page 9 to get a grip on what the battle was truly over. And how important it was I'm especially impressed with the comments on page 24 at the bottom

Like to first say that everyone in the Army, whom I've ever worked with, from the rank of LT down, has been a first class operator for the most part. Anyone above that rank, whom I've had the misfortune of meeting left me with a bad case of heartburn or a headache to be polite, with only two exceptions. To my knowledge, the Marine Corps has not released. A declassified report on the operation and the Army did not give us the best grade overall. They seem to be more impressed with our ability to communicate by laptop than anything else and by some overall reports. The Corps was given the heaviest resistance area to tackle. Now in the original engagement that had occurred earlier that year was hard fought to say the least but the city was handed off to the Iraqis. We had pretty much made the place trouble-free, but had to return after the insurgents had assimilated the Iraqi forces. That was left to maintain order that is what the report Pretty much covers the 2nd engagement. In the report the Army officer claims the BRC was firing at Phantom targets. At 1800 m when the truth is. It was a logistically misplaced reserve unit on their first trip to the sandbox. The report never was amended and we were spread pretty damn thin and on the subject of the breech. Proper demolitions ordinates was never secured had to improvise to get the job done oh well
I agree entirely. It almost seems like they are saying we can plan an op, but can't execute very well. I never liked dealing w/ the army. You never know what you're going to get with them. We were spread very thin, but it's funny you don't hear that from anything 'official'. The only place I've heard it in what I've seen and read was on the discovery channel. Go figure. I know what you mean with the green reserve unit, but how would they know they were phantom targets? Anywho, we did get the job done, twice. That should be what counts. Improvise, adapt and overcome!
The actor who played "Joker" in fmj is named Modine, not Bodine as I previously stated. I'm not ridin' my moto and I don't have internet svc. at the cabin (which I put up for sale today) and yet I'm still here! This forum is the only consistent thing in my life these days! Didn't take the bank job, figuring that my time is better spent selling my cabin and moving to Albuquerque. Ugh! One of these days I'm gonna be back on top of life, and I am going to throw a huge party, and all you 500 gearheads are invited! What does emo stand for? Pace, Gris.
