i haven't been around here long but all it takes is like 3 days to realize the gear **** nature of this site, not in an overbearing(most of the time) way but enough to know that it's not ever percieved as "cool," but rather quite the opposite. if you really paid attention you'd see there is no high-fiving broskies shotgunning beers on the beach only to hop on our neon f3s and gixxerz to pick up chicks around here. post a vid or picture on this forum of yourself or someone in general wearing a helmet, gloves, jeans and a t-shirt you can bet your *** there's going to be about 10 posts how so-and-so is a squid because they aren't head to toe alpinestars leather so I don't get what you are even referring to about people coming on here getting the idea that it's cool...
you're beating a dead horse son...heavily.

To each their own. It only hurts them not you. I can care less if others ride with sandals on, its not my feet.

We all have our opinions on what a squid is and is not, these are just our opinions on the subject at hand. Like me I feel that if your going to be a gear **** you need to be wearing full leathers to be a preacher.
I agree, a squid IMO is someone that rides in a wreckless manner endangering others whether it be excessive speeds or stunting on public roadways. Don't care how they dress when they ride, not my business if they hurt only themselves.

Like has been said already, I don't know where you are seeing these pics/vids that you say are "glorifying" stupid riding in no gear. Of all the bike boards I'm on (and there's more than a few), this board has the lowest tolerance for stupidity, both in riding and gear decisions...that's whyI like it here. OTOH, if someone wants to ridewith no gear and act like an *******, go right ahead, because I knowterminally illpeople need healthy organs.
As far as not allowing people to post it? Well, this is America, this thing called free speech and freedom of expression kinda forcesus to allow it...but that also means the rest of us get to flame said idiot, so it all works out.
I also look at like the kids who killed themselves because Ozzy and Judas Priest "told" them to do it in a message on the album. If you are stupid enough to try something because you thought it would be cool, and you hurt yourself doing it...well, that's just Darwinism at it's finest.

I'm a little bored so I'm going to put some comments in your original post...

Hey guys/gals Hi.

i know this may be the wrong section to post this in and i apologize up front for it, im new to this forum and couldnt find a different place for this post to go, but i know this general tech section gets alot of veiws so i thought this would be a place for it. "Off topic" is the section for stuff like this, general tech is for technical issues.

I realize i have no authority or senority here, but im trying to become more involved and make friends here. Welcome aboard!

I dont think that these forums should support/allow bad habits. support? no. allow? of course - freedom of speech my friend.

what i mean by that is why do we allow people to post pictures and videos of for lack of a better term "idiots" riding motorcycles with no gear at all. Go to Pennsylvania, there is no helmet law there, you see people riding around with no gear at all quite often. It's not smart I agree, but I'm not sure I would call them idiots. I dont want to call anybody here an idiot because i respect alot of you, but why promote this reckless driving with no helmets or no jackets/pants. I can't recall one thread ever "promoting" unsafe or wreckless driving. I know alot of regulars here and experienced riders and know how to handle situations, but what i'm getting at is that accidents happen, and people, especially new members come to this site(very well respected) and then these young riders see all these new videos and pictures of guys riding with no regard to safety. Hopefully they also see the links to extremely graphic sites of motorcycle crashes and can make thier own decisions if the risk is worth being splattered by a truck. whether you choose to believe it or not, alot of young riders look up to you guys and when they see people riding with no more then a pair of shorts on poppin wheelies down a road, they are gonna think thats "cool" and their gonna try things like that Shouldn't even "young riders" have their own free will? Are you implying that we are a society full of lemmings? I think that wheelies / stoppies / etc. are extremely impressive - I've been riding for two years now and I still do not even consider stunting. , and when accidents happen, or other people(non riders) see this, us motorcyclists are gonna get a bad reputation We are way past that point, the reputation is already out there. it only takes a few to put opinions into others heads.

I just wish we could keep an eye on this and realize that many different eyes see these things and then they can go out and promote this non safe attitude. We do not go out and tell people to ride like idiots, and often times when guys post videos of weaving through traffic / passing on double yellow / etc. we flame them pretty good, primarily because they are not only endangering themselves but they are also endangering the general public, and THAT is our problem with unsafe riding. If guys are in an empty parking lot doing 50mph wheelies, that's their choice and if they love the feeling of asphalt ripping off ther skin due to not wearing gear, again, that's their choice.

dont get me wrong, i am a big fan of stunters and their abilities, i wish i could do it. Me too. but theres a difference between safe and fun and reckless. So that means we should have certain videos or pictures posted because some people might find them to be reckless instead of fun? That would be a fun debate :|

again i apologize if its in the wrong area apology accepted, or just straight up a dumb thing to say here Looking out for one another isn't dumb, but censorship is., but i have alot of respect for this forum, and i want us to have a good reputation. This Forum for the most part has an excellent reputation, for many of us it is not the only forum we regularly visit but for many it is our favorite due to the good people. We even tried to save a guys bike by donating our hard earned $$... what ever happened with blindingorange anyway?

Just an idea to keep in mind, sorry if i offend anyone, not my intention, i just realize that theres more to it then looking "cool". Of course there is more to it than looking cool. It's all about the ride... and the chicks. ;-)
