Motorcycle running lights have been in affect since 74 I believe. And red cars get ticketed more because a radar will pick up a red car before anything else. If a red and blue car are travelling side by side at the same speen it will pick up the red car. Other colors "absorb" the radar more than red.

THIS is what happens when people educate themselves on the internet!

Can you please tell me where you learned this? I have to go and completely re-educate myself on how radar and lazers work.

Without going through the trouble of typing something that ALREADY EXISTS ON THE INTERNET I will just supply you with reliable links.
Radar and laser work using the doppler effect. Color has absolutely nothing to do with the detection of a physical object and it's speed.

Even the argument that red colored cars get more speeding tickets is false.

on the sports bikes i dont really think it makes a difference honestly. half the time i cant even hear somebody elses exhaust when im in my truck until they just pass me, even then half the time they arent that loud. on the harleys, sure it makes a difference. you can hear some comin for miles, makes you alert and wondering what the hell is making that noice...keeps people lookin imo. i know mine is lound but i didnt buy it for soud, bought it cause it had a nice cheap/hp ratio

Does it save life? Maybe.
When it comes to safety, EVERY LITTLE THING counts! Bright colors and high-beams attract attention. But drivers may not even look. So add a little more noise, that might get their attention. Any increase in noise levels will equal just that, an increase in the noise level. As someone pointed out, speed also is a factor. It's like what we learned in MSF, it's never just ONE thing that contributes to an accident/incident, it's always a combination of things. So an exhaust may not save life on its own, but it sure does help. So I vote yes

I was traveling to Baltimore yesterday with my friend in a big yellow Penske rental truck. We are doing about 55 mph...when this bike passes us on the left. We didn't hear it until it was slightly ahead of us...and it scared the living bejeezus out of us...my neighbor actually swerved as a result of it (towards the side of the bridge). Completely unnecessary and didn't do crap for us hearing him before we saw him.
