Im with CRASH, That damn Kawi 250 is gorgeous. That would be just right for her to learn on. Plus if kept in good shape and put some miles on her. YOu could get some cash out of it she is ready to upgrade you know. All I really DO KNOW is. DO NOT buy her a Buell Blast. My step dad bought my mom one and blahh It was a mistake she never wanted to ride that thing. Plus its hideous. hahaha.
Good Luck though. Lets us know what happens!

Ninja 250. I think for 90% of the riding (city, traffic, errands) I do the little Ninja would suffice just fine.
Then again, she may not really even care for a sportbike and maybe one of the little cruisers like a Rebel would be good for her since the seat is lower.

i wish my girl would ride hell she dumped me last year when i bought my 929 and got rid of the f3 oh well the 929 is nicer to me anyway but back on topic i would say either a 250 or 500 also maybe a vfr500 like the older ones suzuki has a nice gs500 thats pretty affordable and looks like a gsxr with a more upright seating postion just my .02

A good starter bike in the 600 range is the Honda NT650 Hawk. Not over the top on Horsepower, light and agile. Just mod'ed ours since my daughter had no desire to ride the road. Put a F2 front end on it.

My husband bought me the CB599 for my first bike...not a crotch rocket, you sit up nice and comfy, but has power and I think it's been a great bike to learn on. Now he sees the new '08 Ninja 250 and thinks we should of went that route...BUT, I have to say asa woman that now has been riding for a few months, that I really think I would of gotten bored with the 250 quickly and would want more power. It's intimidating to learn on whatever you have...just make sure that you can reach the ground...we've had to modify my bike a bit cuz I'm only 5'3". Good luck!
