A life skills question.

RE: A life skills question.
Good evening, your question really has little to do with life skills. It is more a question of Integrity, Honor and Morals in general. The truly righteous man will momentarily agonize over this issue, and only take what is rightfully his seeing the other as a offering to those less fortunate. The average man will consider it dumb luck and take both and commit the sin of gluttony. The greedy and unwise men will not only take both but pump additional money in the machine hoping for the same result, basking in his ill-gotten gain

You can't steal from a machine that has a malfunction, that makes a profit. There is a percentage of the profit that pays outor gains from malfunctions. If you put in slugs your stealing. (im talking about vending machies not ATMs)
A perfect example is a newspaper stand, after opening the door do you take two or leave one in the way so the door doesn't close so the next person can have a free one? If you do that your stealing.

RE: A life skills question.
About a month ago UAH sent me a check in the mail for $100.. there was no description of what it was for or anything.. I just cashed it and didn't think twice since I'm sure there was a reason for it. Is that stealing? Maybe the machine has a reason for giving 2 cokes.. If it had malfunctioned and not given a drink to the person before I wouldn't consider it stealing in the same way that if someone left change in the coin return or just left a drink in the slot taking it wouldn't be stealing. I don't believe that anyone has claimed ownership of any of those things.

It's ok as long as you 'think' about giving the second one to someone else.
It is stealing if you enjoy drinking the second one.
When that happens to me, I drink them both, but only enjoy the first one. I drink the second one with a tinge of sadness and dispair knowing that I am only drinking it to keep it from going to waste.
The bank account deal... that happend to me a month after starting my new job. My check somehow got exactly doubled and deposited into my account. I told the payroll lady and she said good thing, otherwise they'd have caught it two months later and I'd have had to pay it back.
