Licence plate mounting
Wasn't sure where to post this.. but heres my Q.
Anyone know of a website concerning the law behind fender eliminator kits? I have been googling for 20 minutes with no luck, looking through statutes and a few other things but haven't found a thing.
Reason I ask is that I live on base, and the gate guards wont let me ride through anymore because they say it's illegal.. yet the downtown police (brought my bike in) said it was fine. I don't have a car! And right now I have a 2 bros slip-on that sticks out so the only thing I can think of is putting on a 12 bar and mount it to that.. with a little led keychain ducttaped to just for when I have to roll in through the gate.

+1 with talkin to the base but most bases (like eglin afb and any ive been to) has a ground commander's office and these guys are the ones that tell the guards what to look for most of the time.. well saftey stuff anyway.
try to get ahold of the base operations room .

You get the one or two A-Hole guards that got some issues and just like to pick on motorcyclists, I've had a few. Pull up your base regulations, which should be available from the safety office and read them. Next time they stop you, kindly pull off to the side and ask him to interpret the regulation, thats why it was written, as a guidance. If you are 100% sure that you are within regs, then ask to speak to his SGT, LPO, OIC whatever you call them in your parts. If the bike has a valid state inspection sticker, I would think that would be pretty hard to argue with. If your state does not require one, you most likely can go to the DMV or the troopers and get it inspected for some nominal fee.
