If you can keep the costs down by doing the repairs yourself Matti, then the Alfa will be a good long run bet and no hardship to own/drive.
It's the same with me and the CLK, it seems to be a solid car, I'll iron out the little problems and refurbish the worn bits and have a car I'm happy to keep for a loooong time.
