Default Kill switch question

I wanted to know if using the kill switch to turn off my bike instead of using the key was a bad idea. Somebody told me that I shouldn't turn my bike off like that. Your thoughts?

I am pretty sure it doesn't matter. ive asked before because the honda manual said one way, but then my instructor told me it was switch first. it was my first noob question when i got my first bike.

The only reason I think you shouldn't is if you develop a faulty kill switch like my friends '07 RR did. Sometimes it wouldn't want to start after he used the kill switch so he just used the key. Other than that I can't see how it's any different.

Nope, no different. MSF instructors teach new riders to use the engine cutoff switch (you call it kill switch) instead of the key so the students will have both hands on the grips while the bike is running.

Allot of my friends use the kill switch, I always just turn off the key. I don't think it matters too much for the motor, just wear and tear on the switch.

Although I hate it when people move my bike for me and use the kill switch. I always look stupid for a few minutes wondering why my bike won't start .

On the v star there isnt much room between the mirror and the kill switch. I was taking a drifting left turn at a stoplight and took my throttle hand off for some reason and when I put it back on hit the switch. Took me a good 20 sec drifting to figure out why it had died on me and wouldn't restart.

Only badness that comes to my mind, is daylight and you forget to turn off ignition.
And then head-light/s run down battery. Other-wise, they all (kick/kill/ignition switch)
do the same thing, in a series.

i was told to use the kill switch first because after awhile the switch corrodes after awhile so by using it everytime it stops it from doing so
