Jacket material
I know that there is a riding gear section, but this section (off topic) gets more traffic. I was wondering if anyone has a Abrasion Resistance AR-600 or similar jacket (like this jacket found here: LINK) or if anyone knows more about this material and what is this material really like?
Is is like Mesh? Codura? Textile? or something of its own?
Also, does anyone know how it compares to leather?
Thanks for any info.

Hmm, according to Speed and Strength:
"Hi David,
Thanks for your inquiry into the new Speed and Strength brand. AR600 is a proprietary fabric that we use in most of the SS textile jackets.
It's based on 600 polyester, (used by many motorcycle apparel companies) with a special PU coating. The PU coating in it's most basic form makes the AR600 windproof and waterproof. It's not quite as simple as that but the type of PU coating determines how flexible the jacket is and how comfortable it is to wear. Beside providing elemental protection, the AR600 PU coating dramatically effects the abrasion performance of the fabric....in effect it's the glue that holds everything together. In standardized ACT testing the AR600 runs out at 3000 cycles. In the real world, this performance is determined by everything from heat, humidity, road surface, UV wear on the fabric and how many wash cycles. Technical data aside, AR600 provides a good combination of element and abrasion protection while still being comfortable. In the end, the best motorcycle jacket is one that you wear.

Thanks for the info and replies.
I second that, but I like to have variety for the different weather conditions since here in Philadelphia, we see all different types of weather conditions. I already own two leather jackets--one that is fully perforated and one that is not, and a textile.
I want a second perforated leather jacket because I don't ride too much in the winter time and the non-perforated jacket is just too hot for when it is 75F or above. I was thinking of getting this jacket to hopefully add to have for riding in the hot weather.
Thanks again for the input.

If this is like my Jacket, it can get pretty warm. You might want to find one in Mesh for the really hot days. Just don't get a Fieldsheir, they look good but suck! I just bought one and although it's nice and cool, I have this flap thing going on right behind my head and it drives me absolutely nuts. I feel like a kid with cards in the spokes of his pedal bike again. Everything I get from Fieldshier seems to suck so I'm done with them!
And Playfulgod...we're not talking about in the Bedroom ya know
