Congrats pits... that is great news!
However I think he coulda done a better job planning the proposal - he shoulda waited anothercouple weeks and taken you to the UFC event on February 3rd and done it that way...Or maybe not, but hey it's MY fantasy not yours

yes, this next months will be a little stressfulll (the closer to the date the worst it gets) but they will be the best,
On Our (I always say ours, it would have been a little hard to get married alone) wedding we learned a few things... some might help you out, but in no way am I an expert.
Remember it's YOUR party and you do it Your way. That menans that you both invite who you want, you do the ceremony the way you want and the reception the way you want.
Familly is always nice to invite, Friends absoluteley, co-workers... well if you want but they are usually not offended if they dont get an invite, after all it's a personal affair.
The ceremony: Make it your own, if you are religious, there are a LOT of different ceremony rituals that can make your wedding verry spedcial, ask your spiritual leader for a copy of the liturgy book from your church and check them out. If not go to borders an dget some of those bridal books they are a huge help and have a lot of cool ideas. Even when you are going to do it with a lawyer or judge you can still make the ceremony what you want. Examples:
In my case we did it on church, we didnt want the whole mass, but we did want to have comunnion, we also had the Ring ceremony, the "sharing of your wealth" ceremony (right what wealth :-), we are both poor) its the one where you give each other coins. and the unity candle ceremony (for this one we had both families come to the altar and light tha candle between all of us (it was like 10 people total but it was cool) we also whrote our own vows. Just remember it's something you will reme mber and cherish the rest of your life.
side note, flowers arranged by your friends look just as nice as flowers arangede by a professional florist, at less than half the price. ( especially true if you have gay friends LOL) they die just as fast too.
spend on what you get to keep, Dress, Pictures, video,
The reception is another thing. ITS A PARTY FOR YOU! Take the first hour to greet and thank everyone for coming, then take the rest of the party to enjoy yourselves. It's not your job to make shure everyone else has a good time.
We did a dinner/ Dance party (my wife and I are both dancers so it made sense.) We had a friend of ours do the catering and used her parent's beach house. We did get a professional DJ to play the music and we had a blast, I dont think that there have been many receptions that go on till 4:00 AM and the people aren't leaving.
