Default iPhone Volume Weirdness while Riding

So I've got this weird iPhone problem. Its an iPhone 4, and I listen to music on it for most of the day, every day. I have absolutely no problems with it, except for when I'm riding. On occasion the volume on it will "jump" to a higher setting, and then drop back down. The increased volume lasts for a split second, almost like if I had a bad connection or something. I confirmed it's not a bad connection by just sitting and wiggling the crap out of the thing with no problems. Also, it doesn't happen at all when I'm jogging, which also involves a lot, if not more, jostling around. I've also noticed the problem with two different makes of headphones.

Really weird clue: The problem increases in frequency as my speed increases. If I keep it under 30, I almost never have the problem, but as I go faster, it gets really annoying. Does the iPhone have some sort of background noise level sensor, and it is increasing the volume to compensate for wind noise it is picking up?

Sorry man, I ride with my 4 as well and never had the issue. It could very well be the position of the buds in your ear maybe?

Nah, cuz then it would vary by ear. This is identical in both ears. Happens in Pandora, iTunes, whatever. . .

I get that too. I think that it is the mic picking the wind and it jumps the volume. It was bad today, but there was a nice cross wind. I ws thinkin about getting some kind of covering for it that would cut down the wind.

Holy crap, that was it. I have a mic on both headphones, and I tried tucking it up into my helmet. Cut the problem way down. Weirdness.
