If you had a serious spill (wreck)
never. ive been out cold a few times. broken bones. and everything else that comes along with a life of racing. if you ride bulls eventually your gonna hit the ground. i just could not give up something that has brought me so much joy throughout my life. ride till i die!!!!
Define serious. Road rash? Broken bones? Weeks in the hospital?
Most likely I'd take a break, but not stop forever unless I felt I was physically or mentally incapable of riding safely.
I did take a year long break years ago after three incredibly close calls in a week's time. With three kids under the age of six and a wife depending on me it seemed better to put them before riding. A year or so later we had a Jeep for sale, and ended up trading it for a CB550. I've been riding ever since.

I had two crashes within 2 months in 2008. I wasn't hurt bad in either, but realized how easily both crashes could have been MUCH worse. I didn't think about not riding, but I did consider getting a sport touring bike (like a v-strom), or even one of the more sporty cruisers (victory hammer s). I didn't have the funds to get anything though, so went out again on the f4i as soon as I had needed parts for my bike. First trip out in the twisties made me realize how much I love riding. Maybe someday I'll have a less sport oriented bike, but it'll be awhile.
Assuming that you mean a bad enough wreck to require hospitalization, I checked that I would take a hiatus ...but it would be for quite awhile. There's just too many people I care about that depend directly upon me, and it would be selfish in the extreme not to consider them in my decision. I would definitely consider riding again in time though, after my situation changed (i.e. children grown up and on their own). This all may be moot as the F2 is likely to be up for sale come riding weather this year....
I had my serious off on my 3rd bike the day after my 18th birthday. Broken arm & concussion, gravel rash on my arms knees & back ( 1 very cactus bike). 16 bikes & 40 years later........................
No, wouldn't quit riding unless physically unable for some reason. I grew up riding dirtbikes & three wheelers in a rural area. Later, raced motocross. Had a few nasty crashes during those yrs. Busted fingers, knee, collarbone, & a rib or two. Each time, I couldn't wait to get back on the bike. Those types of injuries were common place in dirt/motorcross & it was just part of the lifestyle.
Riding a motorcycle, whether dirt or street, you have to accept that at some point, you may be involved in accident. That's just part of life. We try to ride w/ responsibility but can't help what some unattentive cager might do. Things happen. After an accident, if you're physically able, get back on the horse, so to speak, keep riding. If its truly in your blood, you won't let an accident stop you from riding.

I've had a few god crashes where I had to get stitched up/should have been stitched up. As soon as I was able to turn a wrench again, I was out in the garage making the necessary repairs. Bike was down for a while because I had to round up the parts. Other than that, I try to get back on the road ASAP.
I have been in a serious accident, if not for my gear I'd probally be dead or in the hospital for a long long time. but two days after my wreck,I pulled the fairings off of my bike, reset the ecu, fixed the radiator, and jumped back on her and took her down my road. (private). If i have another serious wreck I'll have to stick to my mustang for a long long time before i rode again. My future wife and child on the way has a lot to do with that, i dont wanna lose my life or get anywhere close to losing my life, because of me wanting to ride. What and how would they make it without me? What about the rest of my family? just question i have to ask myself if it was to happen again. The kicker is i am probally in two of the highest risk job professions there is. military and lawenforcement
