If you had a serious spill (wreck)
i won't lie, when you're lying in hospital it can make you question whether it's worth it. but eventually the pain fades and 'the thirst' comes back. seems I read somewhere that's how you find out whether you're really a motorcyclist or not -- it's always fun until the first bad experience; after that it's only those for whom it 'gets in the blood' that come back to it.
I had a big spill to me. I crushed my wrist and hand, broke the end off of my elbow, and broke some ribs, broke my jaw and lost some teeth.
I was wearing my helmet, gloves, boots, jeans, and jean jacket
I took some time off (years). In that time I bought my dream bike the 87 CBR1000f. I bought it and worked on it and stored in a storage center. I had the itch to get out and ride, but the wife was against it. So after the wife and I split I got the bike out. Been riding ever since.
It would take a lot for me to quit. I am a very cautious person. I have never broken a bone..knock on wood...I usually think about the consequences of most situations before I act. I had 2 spills last year and I have only had my bike for a year and couple months. But as soon as my injuries allowed...I was back to riding again. Its just so addicting..
I've never had the misfortune to break a bone, the worst I've had is a body full of bruises and a smashed up bike
But as soon as insurance pays out and I've fixed the bike i'm straight back on it
On the other hand my brother had a bad accident with a compound fracture in the top of his leg and he hasn't sat on a bike since. Even though I basically gave him my old one....
Some are made for it and some arn't, simples

When I was just a kid, I was thrown from a horse. The horse got spooked & took off. He came to a screeching halt at the edge of a shallow ravine & thru me over head first. It was nasty fall but I mainly got bruised up...luckily, no broken bones...but it hurt like hell. After that, I didn't want to ride anymore. However, after my dad checked me over & realized I was basically ok, he said, "son, you gotta get back on the horse as soon as you can or you won't want to later on." He was right. I got right back on that horse & finished riding for the day.
Point is, even if you're seriously hurt or just a little banged up, it can be more of a mind thing sometimes. If you're the kind of person that doesn't give up on things when the times get tough, you'll keep on riding...that is, unless you're actually physically unable to.

i had a '91 750 vfr and i got rear ended at a stoplight by a winnebago,a week later i laid her down in a corner at 60mph,and then two days later my friend and i got ran off the highway by some idiot trying to pass 2 cars and a semi... n o matter what i will ride as long as i can...just trying to finish my '93 f2 before summer comes
Well I have said no to giving up riding. Ive come off twice, fortunately I wa virtually unscathed both times though.
However, if I were to have a reallly serious crash I would have to make the decision then. I think it's one of those potentially life-changing experiences that those of us that have not been through can't possibly imagine the impact it would have. I hope I never get to find out either.

i'll stop when im dead. im 19 ive broken over 30 bones, i have screws n plates in both my wrists and ankles. i have 6 crushed inverted vertabrae in my lower bike, first time i wrecked a bike i was 14 on an R1 goin 60mph. ive rolled my four wheelers plenty of times, wrecked them. wrecked my fair share of snowmobiles, and have wrecked pretty bad on dirt bikes. a few times i was hesitant about getting back on, but if i've learned two things in life its if it aint scaring the s**t out of you it aint worth it. and if it aint dangerous it aint fun
