if u knew a little more about hard drive players you could fix it. its simple really LCD, Hard Drive, Motherboard, Battery, Case. but that is to late for u.

when u do get a new player i HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND ================>ZEN Vision W.... the screen alone is the size of a ipod.

I feel your pain bro. What you did is actually what I would have told you to do if you were a buddy of mine and you said that happened to you. Don't listen to everyone complaining about losing your temper. Don't feel too bad your not alone this is actually a very common ipod problem, it is also know as the sad or frown face ipod problem. What happens is the reader for the harddrive on the ipod goes to far off track sometimes and gets stuck. So all you have to do is send it in for repair, like everyone suggest right? Well yeah you can do that, but if its not under warranty it is $200 dollars for them to replace it! So smile take your $200 dollars and buy something that doesnt crash all the time.

On a side note I had this same problem, well not me I actually sold my Ipod to someone and 2 weeks later she had this problem so being the nice guy I am I told her to bring it to me and I would fix it or give her, her money back. I researched it, sounds like the same way you did. I started to try to do the samething you did with the screwdrive and the case. I didn't get anywhere either, so finally I said F*** it! took it tapped it with reasonable force on the coffee table turned it on and everything was good to go! I must of hit it just right so it knocked it back on track, but thats why I sold my Ipod because they are piles of crap compared to most other mp3 players.

 

I also have a Creative Zen (20g), and it stopped working for no reason. I was pissed but didn't do anything about it. Then, a few weeks later, it started working again for no reason. I didn't re-set it or anything. Anyway, I do have problems trying to load songs onto my daughter's Nano. I haven't had much luck with iTunes or the iPod...grrrrr.

 

Man i Have had i tunes for a littel over two years now and i find i very simple to use, I can buy a song,download it, put it into a playlist, update too my nano,and burn it to a cd in 5 mins.. Always works great..I'll post a picture of my jacked up screen and where i mounted it on my 600 so i can flip songs at a stoplight without diggin into my pocket..

 

my pos ipod like to pause on its own........super annoying when you have to reach over to your fifth pocket while riding and press the play button again. you also cant lock it of course.

 

Thought about waiting for that to come out, but I went ahead and got the vision: M. Fits swell in my jacket pockets.

 

wow with all the engry you spent on destroying it you could have just sold it to somebody or had it fixed it was! key word was under wantry .. i love my ipod .. se broke i fixed her her battery died i replaced that .. but hell its 2-3 years old .. next time make a video of you destroying it .. that way we can all enjoy you acting like an 3 year old tearning up something beacuse it didn;t work the way you wanted it to !

 

yeah, so what i did may be childish, but it's basic psychology (and what i'm about to say I learned in psych 101 class in college)... but when someone trys for an extended period of time to get a desired outcome and failes... then final reaction is to go balistic.

it's like getting something stuck in a vending machine. at first we punch the side... then we kick it. when that fails, we shake the crap out of the thing until we almost knock it over... same stuff.
