Default how to safely ship with a strangeR??

hey, so i'm curious if any of you know a way to safely ship with someone you don't know to ensure that you get the product and they get their money. basic breakdown of my situation is there is an exhaust i found in a craigslist add but a couple states away. i wanna make sure that i don't get screwed and just send him some money and him not send me an exhaust. ideas?? thank you!

its a jardine rt1 carbon fiber dual output. he's selling it for 350 and all i've been able to find on the product is 475 from motosport.com with most places on ebay being at least 550. any ideas of a better more trusting place or something for the pipe? i'm trying to be patient and wait for a good deal to come along on ebay but have been looking for a little under a month now with no luck. its for an 09 cbr600rr.

You can use paypal. Once you put it on paypal, the money is held until you receive the product then give the ok to release funds to the seller. The seller won't ship until the money is in paypal.. it works out.

Or, you can meet half way

Unless he removes all the money from his PayPal & bank account.. Happened to me.. But if you must trust him for the deal, paypal is the way to go outside of ebay

eBay actually authorizes an escrow service to be used on transactions. Pretty sure you can use it outside of eBay as well.

I only mention eBay because of Paypal and the amount of credibility them authorizing that service lends to the company

Paypal it and only use the paypal via Credit Card.

Your best bet to feel comfortable about it is to talk to the guy on the phone. If he talks to you and you feel he isn't going to scam you than that is your best defense.
