I took out a $3000 student loan so I don't have any payments until I'm outta school in a few years. Then took the cash and picked up my '01 F4i from a private seller for $2850, title and all.

I paid cash for mine (new), but it has not always been the case. Used the work credit union many times, but because of the insurance hit you get when the bike is financed. I always told them I was buying something else.

I financed it at 0.9% interest for three years. I was going to pay cash but when Honda offered that ridiculously low interest rate I figured I'd take them up on the offer.

Dropped cash for my first bike.

Got a loan through Navy Fed for my second.

I took the loan out just to have another decent size loan on my financial record though. I have my Tahoe financed, and my bike now.

Before that I had always purchased cars with cash so no long term loan history - which does not help your credit rating.
