Helmet Laws

so far I have loved what everyone has to say. Before my accident I wore a helmet because it was law and it is what I was used to doing ever since I started riding and now after my accident that not only fractured my skull 4 times but broke both hips, broke pelvic bone and shoulder blade but even though my jaw bone ended up breaking from the helmet strap it was easier recovering from a broken jaw and a fractured skull then it would have been missing half my brain, I wouldnt ride without my gear.

I actually really enjoyed Gary Busey in the movies that I saw of his. Point Break especially!
Anyway, if you read up on what part of his brain was damaged and how its' affected him.... it's quite fascinating.

The person who dies because they didnt wear one causes our insurance rates to climb and nearly always leave someone behind. IMO helmet laws are there to protect the idiots among us, and their loved ones.
Helmet laws FTW.

Absolutely, come into casualty and see the kids who didnt wear helmets ..the injuries are horrific ..do it for us doctors and nurses if not yourself!!
Jules
Not a pretty sight to see young kids,no helmets, brain splat up and down the Gutter.....
Why would you not want to protect yourself??
In a convoy heading home from Phillip Island, the cops pull over a H/D rider & went barking mental on him;his excuse for no helmet was
"It gives me headaches-i have a Doctor's note...................."

I can't believe nobodys arguing with me about this?????
*sigh*
I guess raising the level of intelligence for the average member has cut down on the idiotic behavior.

Maybe I'm just saucy because of my new long johns I got for Christmas.
The government needs to look out for morons that are smart enough to get a license (well, some don't) but to damn stupid to wear a helmet. If riders that got hurt didn't have any family, or people that count on them then that would be different but that isn't the case.
As long as idiots and morons hop on bikes then we need laws to baby bit them. Just like seatbelt laws, I love them too.

Oh yes, seat belt laws too .. I tell you what makes me so mad, and I dont get mad but .. I have been behind people belted up in their cars with the kids loose on the back seat IN THE MIDDLE!?? ..does it get any stupider, they are ok but the child is catapulted right between the seats and smashed into the front screen ... their arguement is "um, but I was holding him"
Do you know what, I would jail them for ignorant stupidity ..I just would!!

X I get where you are coming from but I think that it should be your own choice to wear or not wear a helmet and you live with the result if anything happens (if you live that is). I think there are already enough laws about bikes/biking that the less we had the better and no that would not baby anybody to do the right thing but it would force them to smarten the F*** up about motorcycles
