RE: Harleys
you hear harleys for longer because it's a deeper sound...sort of like how you can hear somebody with subwoofers from quite a distance away but not higher frequencies
i'm probably not alone but i've never heard a harley idle
every time i'm near one at an intersection it seem to be revved atleast once every 5 seconds

RE: Harleys
That is one thing in this world that I absolutely HATE is loud Harley/Cruiser bikes, second to my hate for sportbikes with D&D and other EXCESSIVELY loud pipes installed.
Cruisers with gutted exhausts (which is illegal) and sportbikes with gutted/excessively loud exhausts (also illegal) are just as bad as the rice burning, primered up, mismatched body kit, coffee-can mufflered, boyracer Honda Civics of the world. [:@]
(mini-rant)
Stock exhaust is loud enough for me, and I already get angry-stares from the old people in my neighborhood when riding down the street at UNDER the speed limit, and they STILL tell me to slow down (my fault for living in Sonoma Ranch........(the worlds largest community of transplanted, smug-as-hell California & Arizona retiree's.)
