getting a new (to me) bike, any thoughts???
i am going to purchase a 1987 honda super magna. it has 25xxx miles on it and the guy only wants 160 for it. the only draw back is that it has transmission damage. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, the shift forks and the shift drum need to be replaced, along with a mild tune up. i am looking at spending about 400 my cost for all the parts i need. can we say winter project?!?!?!?!? lol. but in the mean time does anybodu know any websites/forums for this particular bike? i have already tried google and havent found anything for it.
Cool bike... but you know... them trany rebuilds, are spendy... unless your sister dates a "wrench" !!!!!!!!! I had a 84 vf1000f, and found the "saber /magna owners forum" on line. a fabulous wealth of info and enthusists. theres tones of tech and recomendations on upgrades. I feel the cams and tranys, are the biggest probs, w/ around these years stuff. What caused the trany probs, to start w/... was it oil related, or a ham fisted rider. Mid 80's sabes/ inteceps. had bad 2nd gears, and an upgrade to diff parts helped. I think you will find that site awsome. My other question is... are you getting the labor free/ self, as these engines arn't cheap to pull/ work on/reasmb. cheaply. I love the 80's honda stuff, and miss my mint interceptor !!!!!!!! Clean and free, Ripp'n
