Gas Out May 15th!!!
Tyler, no your ok. I just don't get it when some Harris Poll asks if we would reduce our driving if gas hit $4 a gallon. Well, in a sense, I guess I would. Because the economy would probably come darn near to a halt. It isn't that so many can reduce their driving, it is that our jobs demand we do it. There is no way I can reduce my driving and still make an income. We are over the barrel on this, litterally. At least that is on rural America, where public transportation doesn't exist and we are spread out enough, that it wouldn't work.
Not to spoil all of your fun but the oil companies don't make the amount of profit that the media makes it out to be. Exxon Mobile makes on average of 5-7 cents per gallon profit. The federal government on the other hand makes about 3 times that in taxes. Not included in that is the state taxes that your state places in there. here in ohio there used to be stickers on the pumps that said 40.7 cents on each gallon were in taxes. The oil companies make such a large amount of money because we use soooooo much oil.
