G@#*&%!!!!! Screw!!! .....................
Dealers in Florida won't patch a tire, or at least that's what they told me. It happened to me on 500 mile old Pilots. I plugged it and replaced it. They were doing the roofs in my condo complex and it was common so the insurance paid for it.
I really do think a plugged tyre is quite safe so long as it's done properly ... but you always have that nagging doubt at the back of your mind, so I guess it's a question of how much for peace of mind ... if it was winter and you just need low speed for biking to work I think I'd be fine, if I was blasting out on our country roads here and leaning hard into bends ..it could spoil it for me...

I've had 3 tyres puncture due to screws etc within 1 month of being new. If you fit a correct "mushroom" plug from the inside, the tyre should be fine. All 3 plugs lasted the life of the tyre without problems. If you're concerned about leakage, put some Green Slime or Tyreweld into the tyre when you inflate it - this will help prevent any leaks.
My 2 cents worth

The proper way is to plug it from the inside with a plug(looks like a plug with a patch on it). This requires that you remove the tire though.
I have personally repaired hundreds of tires that were "fixed" with a plug, plugs are garbage and WILL start leaking eventually, use a patch-plug from the inside, not a plug made from a lump of tar that was designed 80+ years ago
