Default G@#*&%!!!!! Screw!!! .....................

So, I'm getting ready to go to work this morning... PERFECT DAY TO RIDE bout 57 deg F, not a cloud in the sky, and 0% chance of rain...
Gear up, start the bike, and start to pull her back from between the cars as she warms up.

somehow she feels heavier than normal, (almost as if the brakes were dragging when I tried to push her)

so I get off and take a closer lookand the front tire looks low.

I pull her back a little more and realize the darn thing is flat, and has a 2" screw sticking out of it!!

Ruined my freaking morning, and made me late for work, (had to put away all my gear, and move all my stuff back to the car,)

So now I'm left wondering

Can a front tire be repaired (patched or plugged) I'm more inclined to just get a new one, but the tires only have 1445 miles on them and it seems like such a waste when its practically new.

if I get an ew one, what can I do with this one, as it still has practically all it's tread left?

Next investment will be a set of stands, and some tools... now I have to figure out how to get the bike to the shop DANGIT!!!!!!!!!

I think a plug is the only way to go if you have to keep the tire... I put 7k miles on a rear with a plug

I know your pain. Yesterday I came home to clean up my bike cause I am
taking my bike to a former AMA racer to set up my suspension & I found a
2" inch screw in my rear tire. Luckily my local shop hooked me up with a
pair of Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Race tires for only $300 bucks. They retail
for $700 bucks. You can patch a tire if your not gonna do any agressive riding
with regards to turns & speed. Where do you live ?? I might be willing to sell you
my front tire & ship it to you.

Thanks for the info... PM sent BootyFreak.

Do you think that the dealer would patch it?

(I'm guessing $35 vs $120+ install for a new one)

I'm guessing I'm still going to have to plug it to get to the Dealer as i don't have a pickup truck, or a trailer. fortunately I've got a miniatureair compressor...

The proper way is to plug it from the inside with a plug(looks like a plug with a patch on it). This requires that you remove the tire though.

This is my personal opinion. My tires are the only thing keeping me from hitting the ground. Would I risk my life for a patched/plugged tire to save a few dollars.... No.

Sorry to hear about your bad morning!

The main thing you have to ask yourself is "what if". Sure other people have plugged/patched tires and got away with it (which is really what it is, getting away it).......and good for them. I personally have seen a motorcycle blowout first hand, and I'll be damned if I ever get put into that situation because I didn't just go out a buy a new tire.

Sure it sucks, it was a brand new tire, but it beats having your bike twisted into bits because of a plug coming unplugged............or worse that you get hurt from it.

So yeah, you can probably guess what I'm saying (and in case you don't, just get a new tire.)
