My first time EVER on any motorized 2-wheeler was at the MSF course on a Yamaha 225 Dual-Sport. Learning about braking distance in first gear, go to use the front brake (which is the same hand as the throttle) and in completely "noob-ness" grabbed a handful of throttle as I extended my hand for the brake.

Needless to say, I did a few minor wheelies in the parking lot and sufficiently scared the sh*t out of myself. I had what seemed like lost control and was preparing to lay it down. Luckily, I managed to grab the clutch and end the stunt show.

Excellent learning experience in a controlled environment, though... HIGHLY recommend taking a learning course. If I had done this on my 900RR, I'm positive I would've wheelied her, thrown myself off, and she would've ghost-ridden into god knows what....

Embarassing, yes....
