Default Difference In Cost

So with work and school I really do not have time to clean my carbs and do the general maintenance. I called a couple dealership for estimates. One wanted $700, $299 for the general maintenance and $100 per carb, the other was $400 for everything. Apparently the first one did not want my business. It was also a Suzsukass dealership as well. The other was a Honda. This is why I ALWAYS ride red.

hehe alright, but a local shop most likely would only charge less then 200 total to clean carbs. at least thats how much I used to pay back when I was carbed here in Houston

I just got quoted $350 from a Zuk/Polaris place in town. The closest Honda dealer is a little too far away to be practical for me to go to right now.

Meh... I couldn't bring myself to pay that. I'd rather do it myself 1/2 hr at a time each day.

The hardest part of cleaning the carbs is getting the ****ers off and on. And having pulled mine 3 times in 3 weeks, I learned from the experience. Now I'm investigating even lazier methods of carb cleaning: ultrasonic cleaner

I have pulled mine several times. It is syncing them that I do not have the tool for.

There are several instructions on the net for how to make your own sync tool. But you really shouldn't have to sync your carbs after a simple cleaning. Syncing would be needed if you split the carbs or made any changes to the AF.

But to be honest, sometimes I think we obsess on the carbs too much

The price I mentioned above was to have them cleaned and synced. If they just needed cleaned I'd probably do that one myself.

Problem with dealers and wrench work is they may not control the labor costs. I believe Honda mandates $60/HR labor for a Honda certified mechanic. Prolly adjusted by cost of living. So if they're saying $400, they're prolly counting 5-6 hrs of labor

This is a Suzuki dealer so no Honda certified. They quoted me $100/carb. That is ra-tarded. When I had my Stage Jet kit installed it did not cost me that much.
