how much would this cost to fix?
Okay, as some of you know, Im in the market for another bike. Well, I came across this 636 on craigslist... its been laid down pretty hard, and Im definitely not going to pay a grand for it if I see about buying it... but any ideas how much the forks/frame would be to replace? Obviously, Im not going to even bother trying to have the frame bent back, and the forks obviously need replaced. Anyway, heres the link: click me! One of my moms co-workers has ridden for a while and knows of some pretty decent bike scrapyards, so Im thinking I could at least get a decent price for them. Should I go for it? Im thinking of maybe offering $700 for it... or do you guys think I should just pass this one up?
I wouldnt touch it. Probably would cost just as much as repairing it in that condition as it would buying a good used one.
I'd like to point out he started the bike with no oil in it.
cracked the engine case...Bike started right up after the accident last week. I'm sure it would do so now, but the oil is all drained out of the crack.
A bent frame, bent forks - not just a lowside - he hit something too
I'd pass it up..............
Too much involved - it's a total rebuild, and who knows if the motor's really sound ?
Nope, not me.............
My 2c worth.

ZOMG!! ..run for the hills ..lol ..sorry, dont mean to be a meanie but frame, forks, engine, obviously all the plastics too from a crash so what is left that isnt damaged ..its for parts only surely?? .. yes, you can fix it by basically replacing the whole bike ..then there is all the work involved too, um ..sometimes life is way too short!!

so, what that guys is saying is he has a motor... that... maybe still runs? yeh thats not a bike, its parts that are still attached to one another.
if you happen to find a cheap 636 frame soon i would shoot him an offer, other wise that bike is usless, besides, the frame IS the bike, his title is usless because you would have to have one for the new frame (unless you want to be shady and re-stamp the VIN)
