^that...

and another calendar starts right after that one. it's just like ours. it ends on dec. 31, but then another calendar starts on jan 1.

same thing with the mayans. that's the winter soltice. nothing more. they had millions of calendars, and the "mayan" calendar that they talk about is the one that encompasses them all. that just happens to be the last day and then the new calendar begins the next day.

total hype

a cute observation, but i have to assume this is based on flawed reason. the Mayan calendar (and the Gregorian, in the bigger picture) is based on celestial movement, not a specific number of days. leap day is just a patch to keep the days in line with that that movement. i think the Dec 12th date simply happens to correspond with the same celestial event as the Mayan calendar.

It's not like the Mayans said something will happen on "Dec 12, 2012", but were off because they didn't know about leap day. They didn't even know about December.

Im gonna attempt to jump the grand canyon on my CBR600 when the world is about to end. Even though i won't make it, it would be a pretty legit way to go out in a blaze of glory LOL.

Didn't we all have to go through all this end of the world stuff last year when some preacher guy told it was going to be all over on May 12 2011?

Didn't pay my Visa, my mortgage, or my power bill.

Apparently he was wrong and I've spent the last few months trying to make peace with some right snotty creditors.

It would appear that when the end of the world comes you still have to pay your bills - sigh.
