the only other concern may be your physical size. the VFR's are very nice, but for me they are huge! I am waaaayy to stretched out to ride one comfortably. a few of my riding buddies had them and swore by them. they would never find another bike they liked as much...... then the 07 600RR came out. both claim they are much more comfortable on our 350mile +weekend rides on the RR than the VFR. So much so, one of them sold his VFR, and the other guy has only rode his 2 times since buying the RR.

they are a great bike, and the sound awesome, especially with some stay tunes,

ABS would be premium value for me. I wish I had it on my 600RR. I would definitely get it on any bike I bough that had it as an option.

From what I hear, the VTEC is quite fun. It really doesn't add up to a whole heck of a lot statistically, but the burst of power is apparently very perceptible and makes for a real good time.

The Interceptor might just be the best sport tourer out there. Be sure to get the hardbags. Apparently it can be a little work in the twisties, but much less so than any other sport tourer out there. It's super comfortable, my friend (a VFR owner) says.

as for the vtec, actually alot of people use a PCIII to smooth out the transition, becuase its at an RPM range that is usually reached when leaned over and heading for a corner exit. becomes a handful when you get all that extra power.

What's the redline on the VFR? I thought the VTEC hit at around 7000 rpm. That's a lot of RPM when leaned over in a turn. Are you talking about a hard lean in a twisty? In a 20 mph curve I am often in 3rd and at less than 7000 rpm on my 600RR. I would not think I would be in danger of a VTEC burst. Now going 80 mph on a high-speed sweeper, I would not expect to be terribly leaned over and wouldn't think VTEC would cause too much trouble.

But it's an interesting thing you mention. I just never would have expected it to be irritating.

What's your size? I'm 5'6", 135lbs and ride my 01 very well. Know if I didnt have my boots on then I cant flat foot the beast.

The '02 - '06 vtec kicks in at 7k. They brought it down to 6700 on the '07. The kick in will never go away but the PCIII with a good map does help it out.

Actually you can be indangered on a turn and it kicks in.

The vtec doesnt add much power. Now if they didnt have to add the extra weight then it would probably be more noticeable. You can wheely easier on a 6th gen than you can a 5th gen.

I dont remember exactly, but I thinks its around 10-11RPM.. Its considerably less than an inline 4cyl.

I guess how agressive your ride will also depend on if the VTEC kicks in at a dangerous spot. fwiw, If Iwas in a 20mph turn, I would most likely be 2nd gear, around 10-12k rpm on my F4i. When riding hard in the twisties, I never drop below 8k, 2nd or 3rd gear. If I'm that far down, I will drop a gear. nothing like the feeling of the front end coming up at 12000rpm on a corner exit

also, even riding that agressively, its all I can do to keep up even when the other guys are riding the VFR's, they can hit the twisties just as hard.
