That version of Seek and Destroy on Binge and Purge is just awesome...those CD's PUMP in a car with a sick sound system...as the one I have installed in my GTI. Really, sounds good... Disc #2 in that set was stuck in my CD player for at least 2 or 3 of my college years...it never got removed.

I agree with your list, but I'd put the Black Album at #4, but I have not heard all of the new album yet...maybe I'll pick it up today on the way home from work...

Maybe you shouldn't include Binge and Purge on that list, as it's a box set of all the albums released before '93...I think...but it's their first live "album" I guess...so it's ok, but there was nothing new on it at the time, right?

BTW - I saw Slipknot in Hartford with Disturbed a few weeks back...good show man! My only problem is that their sets were too short...
Well if we can't include Live Sh*t, then we can't technically include S&M...Binge & Purge didn't contain anything new, but there is no arguing that the speeded up renditions of the songs were absolutely amazing and the album medleys were unique.

I liked the Black Album back in the day, but it just got old for me, and as Metallica came to release more albums under producer Bob Rock, I came to reject all of his work with the band, up to and including the Black Album. Rick Rubin has saved Metallica IMHO.

That new POD album was a great buy as well, my current three disc rotation is Slipknot, POD and Korn's Greatest... the new Metallica will get a chance to get in there when I purchase it later...

I must say, you are "abso-f***ing-lutely" NUTS! to think this death magnetic crap is above "kill 'em all". I can't even admit that it is any better than the black album. It may be on par with load or some of their other crap but thats it.... Good ol' Metallica was amazing, It carried such an epic sound to all of it. There solos crept up beautifully were fantastic. This Death Magnetic is crap once again. Solos are trash.. nothing more than sloppy hammer-ons. I will say it is far superior to st. Anger but lets be honest... that was complete trash. The funny part is, Megadeth even came out with a great album last year "United Abominations" and made Metallica look like a bunch of clowns for not being able to rock anymore..

sorry... you hit a touchy subject [&:]

Listened to the album last night and I enjoyed it. It's already been said that it's not as good as the older albums which I will agree with. Still not going to stop me from listening to this one for awhile. Def. some sick riffs thrown in there.

On a side note I need to get a hold of the new slipknot CD. I never got into them that much until I went to Mayhem Fest and they put on one hell of a show.

I haven't listened to this new one and today on the radio they said the sound is like they were late 80s??? I think they have two discographies. One before the black album and one after the black album. Hopefully will listen to this new album tomorrow at work.

Do you even play guitar? Trust me, those aren't "sloppy hammer-ons."

And since you know so much about guitar and soloing, or at least enough to criticize one of the better heavy metal guitar players in the world, I challenge you to record yourself playing the solo to "That Was Just Your Life." It starts at 4:52 and it's only 22 seconds long. Should be easy...it's just sloppy hammer-ons.
