Dead Rat in the wall
We had a mouse carp it in our wall, so though its smaller, similiar story. Depends on wot type of wall cavity (volume & air flow) Wot the temp is, but two weeks will see it gone. We used about three friggin plug in type scent douver lackies, and also the type that have scent in the bottle & that killed most of it off, the pong will fade from the initial "oh my god, there's something dead in here" & gradually decrease pretty quickly. Just don't go for any musky scents if you have to use room deodorisers
More heat,= more stink= less time stinking. Thats why posion is the last resort. It could be two months. It will get bad enough you can get within 3 or 4 feet of it. There will be more than one though bro.
How are you with sheetrock?

I' m with flatlander. As long as you dont have a smooth wall finish, the drywall patch will be pretty easy. Open the wall, dispose of the filthy creature, make a simple wall repair and paint. Done.
I hate rodents.
I have been a plumber for 14yrs and still cant stand the thought of rats in crawl space's.

7 to 14 days. fackin sucks honestly. makes u wanna puke every time you walk past the spot. we get rats when it starts gettin cold out and they come into the shop here. fittin to poison them over the weekend. next week is gonna blow[:'(]
It is in a closet that I don't use, but I live in a townhouse on the river and rats are a way of life since the condo association got rid of the feral cats. I don't want to do the sheetrock thing, since I am not sue of where it is. Thanks for the replies, Happy Thanksgiving.
